Austin Green Drinks gets technical!

Hey Green Drinkers,

Ok, so all the experts Green Drinks has brought in to chat with us on
health and environmental issues have given us an abundance of
fantastic advise on all of the long term big projects in our lives
and around our homes, but what about some things we can all do right
now? What can we do that is virtually effort free, and will give us
that instant feel good gratification? Hmm, how about some simple
adjustments on the settings of our computer hardware? Rebecca
Thorburn a member of the Climate Savers Computing Initiative will be
joining us to promote the non-profit organization’s dedication toward
promoting climate conservation through the widespread deployment of
energy efficient hardware and power management software. In a typical
desktop PC, nearly half the power coming out of the wall is wasted
and never reaches the processor, memory, disks or other components.
CSCI was formed by Google, Intel and the WWF (World Wide Fund For
Nature) in June 2007. Individuals are encouraged to participate by
using power management tools on their PCs and by purchasing energy-
efficient components in the future. Rebecca will give a brief
overview of the Initiative and fill you in on how you can make a
difference in your own home or workplace.

Join us for the fun part of being globally aware February 29th from
5:30-7:30ish at Opal Divines: W 6th and Rio Grande at the upstairs
bar adjacent to the terrace.
